The Association of Science Museum Directors is a proud supporter of national Museums Advocacy Day, spearheaded by the American Alliance of Museums, in Washington D.C. ASMD again served as a co-convener for the 2018 event on February 26-27. ASMD Executive Director Bonnie Styles spoke on behalf of ASMD at the Congressional Breakfast and advocated for support for all museums (including science museums), and the importance of science education, scientific collections, and research to society and the planet. In 2018, federal funding for museums will continue to be a major issue and museums are also being significantly impacted by tax reform, education policy, infrastructure legislation, and more. The stakes have never been higher.
Last year’s ASMD President Todd Boyette spoke at 2017 Museums Advocacy Day in Washington D.C.
