ASMD 2026 Museums Advocacy Day

ASMD served as a co-convener for Museums Advocacy Day (February 23-24, 2026 in Washington D.C.) for the 14th consecutive year! ASMD members advocated for all museums at this event and participated in training for museum delegates. Executive Director Bonnie Styles met in the offices of senators and representatives who serve on appropriations subcommittees that fund agencies, including IMLS, NEH, NSF, NASA, and NOAA, that provide crucial support for museums and museum programs. Bonnie and other ASMD members advocated for support for all museums, and also relayed the positive educational and economic impacts museums have on individuals and their communities. ASMD members also provided examples that demonstrate the importance of science museums and science education, scientific collections, and research to communities, states, countries, and the planet. We encourage all museums to regularly advocate for support for their programs and the educational and economic benefits that they provide to their communities and the world.
